Mexico City: Mexico's Capital City
Grab your bags; we are going to Mexico City, a place where cultures and traditions from all over the world become one.
If it’s the first time you visit Mexico’s capital city, we recommend you to start your tour at the Historical Center and walk along the “Zócalo”, across the street you’ll find the Catedral Metropolitana and El Palacio Nacional, where every year there is a ceremony culminating with the “shout of Independence” given by the President of México.
A few meters away is located the Museo del Templo Mayor (Templo Mayor Museum), where archaeological remains of the Mexica culture can be found, a culture who was master and lord of the region before the arrival of the Spaniards. In its eight rooms, you will find objects related to the lifestyle of its inhabitants, from their religiosity to the way of feeding.
Mexico City is full of entertainment, history, and tradition as in the Plaza Garibaldi, which is located in the north zone of the Historical Center, and well-known because of plenty of mariachis that gather in this plaza waiting for people to ask them for songs to perform. A few steps from there, you will find one of the most traditional and typical canteens of CDMX, called El Salón Tenampa, where big artists of the golden era were clients: Jose Alfredo Jiménez, Pedro Infante, Chavela Vargas, Mario Moreno "Cantinflas“, to name a few of them.

Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts)
Located in Alameda Park, a historical building declared an artistic monument by the UNESCO in 1987. In there, you will get astonished by the big murals painted by famous and important artists, such as Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Rufino Tamayo. You definitively have to visit this place, besides it has a varied agenda of shows throughout the year.
Museo Nacional de Antropología (Anthropology National Museum)
If you are interested in learning about the history of México, this is a key place in your visit in CDMX. It has wide rooms in where you will be able to know about each of the Pre-Hispanic cultures through various articles, paintings, models, etc. It is a huge museum, so we recommend you to go with a lot of time in order to go all over it.
Castillo de Chapultepec (Chapultepec's Castle)
Located inside the Bosque de Chapultepec, it’s recognized as the architectural monument with more history in Mexico, it shelters a great collection of paintings, documents, photographs and objects that show and exemplify you the history of the country since before the settling of the Spaniard colonization, to the present day. For its high location, you can enjoy incredible views in its beautiful gardens.
Centro Histórico de Coyoacán (Coyoacán Historic Center)
Coyoacán, also known as Lugar de los Coyotes (Place of the Coyotes), is a place filled with culture and history, it has the second most visited plaza in the CDMX after El Zócalo. Here you will find a diversity of restaurants, bars and places to enjoy, where you will be able to see the famous fountain Los Coyotes de Coyoacán, located at the Jardín Centenario.
Xochimilco
Recognized as a heritage of the humanity since 1987, where you will be able to sail in the middle of walled canals with gardens and screens of trees on his trajineras (boats made out of wood) with bright colors; there you will discover a few small artificial islands called chinampas, in which flowers and vegetables are cultivated. Also, you will be able to do this amazing tour while you eat and drink some snacks and enjoy the trip with mariachi music or marimba veracruzana.
In addition, in the middle of so much splendor, you will find a horrifying place that will give you goosebumps, named La Isla de las Muñecas.
Finally, you cannot leave Mexico City without enjoying a delicious Guajolata, which is tamal sandwich, the traditional tacos sudados or a torta de chilaquiles.
In Mexico City, you will run out of time before you visit every touristic place in the city, but with this guide, you are going to be able to visit the most representative places.
